Review of the movie Blonde on the air. Without a soul, without a body

" Blonde on the air " turned out to be rather embarrassing to watch. You seem to vaguely understand that you yourself came, paid and sat down in a chair, but nevertheless, the feeling that you accidentally confused the hall does not leave until the very end of this … TV commercial for Elizabeth Banks. In fact, there is nothing more to see in this movie besides her.

After the audience success of `` Bachelorette Party in Vegas '', which even managed to get two Oscar nominations, the Hollywood Gate swung open affably for movies aimed strictly at the weaker sex. And how can you conclude based on the success of Skirt Cops? and the recently released The Other Woman, it's no coincidence. Only here is the newly-minted `` Blonde on the air '' biting off a piece of this pie is unlikely to succeed.

The movie doesn't catch on. What seemed like not the worst plot in the trailer, where a girl-reporter finds herself out of nowhere without a phone, car and wallet, absolutely does not work for a two-hour movie. From the very beginning, the main character absolutely fails to worry. For the sake of fairness, it should be noted that the fault here is not Elizabeth Banks, who is generally convincing (albeit one gets the feeling that she is as stupid as a cork), but the director and screenwriter Stephen Brill. He doesn't seem to care about characters and situations. The entire movie is built on so many cliches that everything staggers and threatens to collapse at any moment.

The jokes mostly didn't work either. Either due to the general dullness of the action, I no longer wanted to laugh, or the trailer showed all the most interesting. Despite the fact that the heroine herself is constantly moving towards her goal, the movie seems to stand still. The actors are somehow trying to stretch their characters so that they simply do not mix with the people in the background.

The most disastrous - and ndash; this is the technical execution of the movie. This is not what you expect from going to the movies. Camera work, editing, music – everything is poor, not original, spoiled. " Blonde on the air " managed not only without a soul, but also without a body, becoming more a parody than a full-fledged movie. And a parody of the movies of novice moviemakers. A kind of full-fledged path of shame, both for the audience, and especially for the creators.

The only ones who can possibly manage to get out of this mess will be the actors, because they do fulfill their tasks. Although it sometimes seems that Elizabeth Banks took on the project solely because she was finally offered the lead role, it is almost always pleasant to watch her in a tight yellow dress. James Marsden and Ethan Saply have shown themselves well, limiting themselves to calm confident play and trying not to compromise themselves too much.

Perhaps the movie has a chance to appeal to fans of Elizabeth Banks rather than anyone else. Probably this wild unbalanced adventure will find its moviegoers, although they will most likely have to be unearthed for quite a long time. However, the movie still generates thoughts. One would like to return to a long dispute, whether such movies, in principle, are needed by anyone other than studios that dream of making at least something. Response from most viewers who left the audience after watching Blondes on Air quot; will be negative. It is best not to know at all what happened once in the history of modern cinema. An annoying gray and flat misunderstanding that came out at the beginning of the summer blockbusters season.
