Nicolas Cage swings at Lovecraft

Image Fans of Nicolas Cage's work have already got used to the fact that the actor's popularity is in the past, and now he appears in second-rate action films, which are most often awarded with obscene words from the audience. Sometimes, however, in this variety of indigestible films, interesting projects slip through, for example, last year's thriller "Mandy", which delighted the reviewers.

SpectreVision apparently enjoyed working with Cage, and together with ACE Pictures, they will give the actor another chance to rehabilitate himself in the eyes of the audience. Their new joint project will be the film adaptation of the story "Color from Other Worlds" by Howard Phillips Lovecraft. The project was so interested in the director Richard Stanley ("Iron", "Devil of the Sands") that he decided to get out of a long sabbatical, which lasted for more than 20 years, and lead the filming of the film adaptation. Coming next month, Cage will be accompanied by Joely Richardson (Emerald City), Tommy Chong (The Smoked), Elliot Knight (Titans), Julian Hilliard (Haunting Hill House) and C'Orian Kilcher ("The Alienist").

"Color from Other Worlds" is considered one of Lovecraft's most famous stories and combines elements of horror and science fiction. According to the synopsis of the future film, the center of events will be the Gardner family, who escaped from the turmoil of the XXI century on a farm in New England. As they adapt to their new life, a meteorite lands in their yard, infecting everything around with a strange otherworldly color. To their horror, the Gardners soon realize that an alien force is mutating everything it touches, including themselves.

SpectreVision spokesman Daniel Noah noted that they have been looking for an adaptation idea for a long time that would convey the full power of Lovecraft's horror, and that Richard Stanley is better than anyone else to implement this idea. The director's career developed at a rapid pace until I stumbled over The Island of Dr. Moreau. Due to a conflict with the stars of the picture, Marlon Brando and Val Kilmer, Stanley was unceremoniously fired and replaced by John Frankenheimer, after which the director withdrew from the world of cinema. So, "Color from Other Worlds" is also a great opportunity for him to return to duty.
