Jack Nicholson will extend his sabbatical
Last February, the good news came from Hollywood that legendary actor Jack Nicholson is ready to get out of a pretty long sabbatical for the lead role in a remake of the German dramedy "Tony Erdmann". It seems that the delight of film fans was premature. The Wrap claims that the three-time Academy Award winner has withdrawn from the film.The reasons for the actor's departure from the project have not yet been reported. At one time, Jack was so delighted with the Maren Ade film that he personally proposed the idea of creating its remake to the president of the film company Paramount Pictures. Now the studio management will have to look for another actor for the role of the former music teacher, who invented a fictitious person in order to improve the relationship with his daughter. Nicholson last appeared on the big screen eight years ago in the comedy Who Knows ... Since then, rumors have surfaced on the Web that Jack quietly and peacefully retired. The actor himself is in no hurry to announce the end of his outstanding film career. Moreover, a few years ago, he admitted that a really strong scenario awaits. Fans of Nicholson's acting talent can only hope that their favorite will still be able to find worthy material and will finally triumphantly return to the cinema screens.  Oscar-nominated Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids Are Alright) will take over the director's chair for the American version of Tony Erdmann, while Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live) will appear as the daughter of the main character of the story.
