The Handmaid's Tale Director will take on superheroes

Image Caution! Avengers: Endgame spoilers.

Like any decent universe, CME continues to expand. We have already written that in the near future, miniseries about Loki, Vision and the Scarlet Witch, as well as the Falcon and the Winter Soldier will be presented to the attention of comic book fans. Now it became known that Carey Scogland ("Vikings", "The Punisher") was appointed director of the latter. Anthony Mackie will return to the role of Falcon, and Sebastian Stan will reincarnate as the Winter Soldier.

Carey Scogland has been nominated for an Emmy and is a BAFTA and Directors Guild of Canada recipient. Her filmography includes the series "The Handmaid's Tale", "Borgia", "Boulevard Horrors", "The Walking Dead", "Fear the Walking Dead" and others. In the coming year, the director's name will appear in the credits to "The Land of Christmas", "Rook" and "The Loudest Voice".

According to unconfirmed rumors, the miniseries kicks off with the last scene in Avengers: Endgame. Steve Rogers, who has lived a long and happy life with his beloved woman, waits for his friends - the Falcon and the Winter Soldier - at the place of the last meeting using a time machine. Silently, the gray-haired Captain America hands over the legendary vibranium shield to the shocked hero Maki to take the place of the aged avenger in the eternal battle of good and evil.

It is not yet known whether the series will overlap with other KVM projects on TV. Daniel Bruhl (Inglourious Basterds, The Alienist) and Emily VanCamp (Captain America: The Other War) will consider returning to their characters from Captain America: Civil War in a new project. The premiere of the mini-series "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" is scheduled for August 2020.
