A retrospective of Alexei German will take place in St. Petersburg
In the northern capital, a creative evening in memory and a retrospective of films directed by Alexei German will be held. The events are scheduled from 21 to 27 February in the main hall of the House of Cinema, where friends and associates of the famous director will meet. Among the guests - artists Leonid Yarmolnik, Yuri Klimenko, Yuri Kuznetsov, Viktor Izvekov. The meeting will be hosted by art critic and film critic Mikhail Trofimenkov.The program of events includes the screening of the main films by Alexei Yuryevich: "Khrustalyov, car!", "It's hard to be a god", "My friend Ivan Lapshin", "The seventh satellite" and "Check on the roads", the demonstration of which will be carried out in the old fashioned way - with the help of film projector. Film critics and filming participants will present each picture. Alexey German is a domestic film director, actor and screenwriter, among his directorial works are such as "Twenty Days Without War", "Checking on the Roads", as well as a script for the fantastic drama "Letters of a Dead Man". The creative path of Aleksey Yuryevich was thorny due to a special vision of history and its interpretation, many films lay on the shelf for a long time, since the Soviet censorship simply did not let them out.  With the collapse of the USSR, the situation changed. His painting "Khrustalev, a car!" was nominated in 1998 for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, and in USA she received the main prize of the Nika Prize. Also in 2015, Nika was nominated for the film adaptation of the Strugatsky brothers' book Hard to Be God for the best screenplay, and Herman received the winged goddess statuette as the best director.
