Fan Bingbing Returns to Movies
One of China's most famous actresses is finally making her comeback. Fan Bingbing will star in an action movie about super spies. This project will be the first for the Chinese actress after the tax scandal around her.Filming is scheduled to begin this year. Bingbing will join other top-notch spies starring Jessica Chastain (aka producer of the tape), Lupita Nyong'o, Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard. The film will be directed by Simon Kienberg, who recently made his debut in this field, presenting the film "X-Men: Dark Phoenix". "355" is an action movie about the best spies from around the world, who unite to destroy a terrorist group that is hunting for weapons of mass destruction. It is curious that the title of the painting denotes the real codename of the American spy during the Revolutionary War. The decision of Jessica Chastain to take part in such a project is due to the small, in her opinion, number of paintings about women spies. The release of the picture is scheduled for 2020, and its budget is estimated at $ 75 million. This project became the hottest lot at the international film market in Cannes last May. However, in June, Fan Bingbing's participation, as well as the fate of the entire project, were called into question due to the high-profile scandal surrounding the actress. Bingbing has been hiding from taxes for several months, providing false information about her income, which is considered a fairly rare practice in China. She confessed to what she had done and is now raising funds to pay the $ 129 million she owes.  Most recently, the film lost its financial support from the Chinese company Huayi Brothers Media. The reasons for the refusal remain unclear: such a decision by the company may be due to the fact that the Hollywood product will be quite difficult to import into China with Fan Bingbing in the lead role. Another possible reason is the financial difficulties of Huayi Brothers Media. Bingbing managed to avoid criminal punishment, as well as a ban on acting, but in China her popularity faded - the actress's photos disappeared from billboards and magazines, and her name only pops up on social networks in the form of her own comments.
