Jessica Chastain meets the Dark Phoenix
Apparently, the Golden Globe and Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain ("The Servant", "The Martian") decided to add in the piggy bank another project, the adaptation of the comics. At the end of last year, it became known that the actress intends to act as a producer and star in the film adaptation of Painkiller Jane. And now, according to The Hollywood Reporter , Chastain is in talks regarding participation in the filming of the next part of the mutant franchise - "Dark Phoenix". But this time she is going to embody the image of the villain on the screen.In addition to negotiations with Chastain , 20th Century Fox has decided to return to action the team of mutants, familiar to viewers from past films, performed by Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult. Originally contracts with the actors were concluded for only three films, but now they can be seen in the story of Dark Phoenix . The film also stars the stars of the latest X-Men: Apocalypse movie - Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan and Cody Smith-McPhee.  But at the helm of the future film will be the long-time working on the franchise about X-Men screenwriter and producer Simon Kinberg. For him, the picture will be a directorial debut. British actress Sophie Turner will repeat on the screen the image of Jean Gray , whose telepathic abilities due to the influence of cosmic energy called Phoenix Power will one day be amplified to such an extent that she loses control over them. Jin transforms into a Dark Phoenix that poses a danger and brings death and destruction, which forces the X-Men to stop her.  The storyline of the alter ego of Jean Gray was already brought to the screens in 2006 in the movie "X-Men: The Last Stand." However, this was done quite rudely, the fans rejected this version and considered it critically incorrect. Kienberg and the crew are looking to redeem this with a film that sources say will be closer to the classic story created by writer Chris Claremont and artist John Byrne. If the negotiations are successful, Jessica Chastain will play the role of Lilandra , the ruler of an alien empire called Shi'ar , who wants to capture and execute Dark Phoenix , which ultimately leads her into conflict with the X-Men . Lelanda also leads an extraterrestrial super-team called the Imperial Guard , however it is not yet clear if this group will be featured in the film.  Filming for the new adventures of X-Men will take place in Montreal, and the movie is slated to hit the big screens on November 2, 2018 .
