Marvel is ready to learn the secrets of kung fu

Image The blockbusters Black Panther and Captain Marvel have helped Marvel not only significantly expand the boundaries of its cinematic universe, but also gain a whole army of new fans. At the end of last year, it became known that the fourth phase of the superhero franchise will include a tape about the adventures of the martial arts master Shang-Chi, which will surely give Kevin Feige's company the opportunity to cover another important segment of the world film market - fans of films about martial arts and audiences with Asian roots.

Shang-Chi will be the first Asian to receive a solo album in the MCU. The debut of this hero in the pages of comics took place in 1973. Initially, Marvel executives wanted to acquire the rights to create graphic novels based on the TV series "Kung Fu", but Warner Bros., which owns rival publisher DC Comics, vetoed the deal. As a result, the Marvelites changed the concept of the comic and bought the rights to the famous villain from Sachs Romer's tabloid novels - Dr. Fu Manchu.

The authors of Marvel put up against the criminal genius of his own son - Shang-Chi, nicknamed the Master of Kung Fu. The image of the young hero was partially copied from the legendary Bruce Lee. Since then, the young man has been a member of many superhero teams, including Heroes for Hire and Avengers.

Details of the plot of the film about the adventures of Shang-Chi are still kept secret. Last December, Dave Callaham ("The Expendables", "Jean Claude Van Johnson") started working on the action movie script, and today the project has finally found a director. Destin Cretton will direct the film. The director first made a big name for himself in 2013, when his drama Short Term 12 won several dozen awards at various indie film festivals.
