Review of the movie Spy. An ingenious cover

Nice to see Paul Feig movieing before “ Spy ” hits like “ Bachelorette Party in Vegas ” and “ Cops in Skirts ”, does not rest on its laurels, but evolves. Slowly but surely. Because another comedy with Melissa McCarthy – This is not just a parody of spy thrillers, but in itself quite a cleverly planned thriller with an uncomplicated, but surprisingly unpredictable plot, many pursuits, bloody fights and serious intensity of passions.

Another thing is that all this is diluted. a mass of sharp, sometimes hotly vulgar humor. Naturally centered around Melissa McCarthy, if only because she is a purposefully comedic actress with little dramatic baggage, with a magnetically compelling on-screen presence. She's also very easy to empathize with. However, this time from behind her, none other than Jason Statham constantly looks out, laughing at himself, Bond and Bourne combined and indulging in epic stories about his own heroes, which invariably cause fits of fits of laughter in the hall. He's so good!

There are also hilarious Rose Byrne and Peter Serafinovich, slightly outplaying Jude Law, and overly impressionable Miranda Hart, deliberately clumsy Fifty Saint and Allison Jenny, whose character never jokes. In general, Feig picked up an amazing and different, but almost perfectly assembled plot in one pile. Let the scenario sometimes turn out to be inconsistent, then almost slipping into a farce, then instantly retraining into a cruel action movie, yet the moments when these two hypostases ideally converge together, transforming the action into hilarious action, they overshadow all the absurdities.

In the end, the movie was shot quite skillfully, albeit somewhere a little careless. The action is constantly changing locations (from Paris to Hungary). The plot practically does not sag, and McCarthy unexpectedly manifests martial arts wonders, handing out cuffs to the right and left, then taking a breath and again smiling innocently at the camera, as if everything happened completely by accident. In some places, she adds a special charm and sensuality to the movie, although later she destroys this veil with comical jokes, but for many they quickly roll over the line of bad taste. This is perhaps the only thing that is difficult for her and Paul Feigu to forgive.

In addition, here and there there appear defiantly bloody, graphic images, from which they distort, especially since they seem to be absolutely superfluous. Moreover, McCarthy's heroine has a weak stomach, and at the sight of blood she seeks to splash its contents over the victims, which contributes to the repulsive effect and instantly pulls out of the action.

However, Feig seems to offer the viewer a million bonuses in return as an excuse. Here he appears in a hilarious cameo. Here he inserts a hysterically funny scene with Verka Serduchka, whom McCarthy chases around the stage during a performance. McCarthy's husband appears out of nowhere to ask for directions at the most inopportune moment. And the opening credits were generally launched a la James Bond, accompanied by stylish music and a vivid visual series, causing for some reason direct associations with Skyfall.

So it might seem like a spy. only parodies all other movies about secret agents, but in the end Feig manages to add enough differences and present everything in a serious enough form for the movie to exist independently of the others. Like the best secret agents, he has a couple of aces hidden up his sleeve to pleasantly surprise everyone and at the same time remind us why everyone loves to watch spy movies. After all, we all at least a little bit sometimes want the pen to be a deadly weapon, and a luxurious Mercedes equipped with the latest technology was waiting outside the house. Therefore “ Spy ” – it's a great pastime, insanely funny, beautifully played and masterfully orchestrated so that everyone on screen shines.
