Mortal Kombat Heroes Will Become Toon
The beginning of the new year continues to delight fans of the animation world. First, rumors appeared on the Web that Warner Bros. Animation is working on cartoons about the adventures of Batman and Superman, and today it became known that characters from one of the most popular franchises in the history of the gaming industry can take an example from the heroes of the DC universe. According to Revenge of the Fans, Warner Bros. is considering the idea of creating a tape based on the series of fighting games "Mortal Kombat" (Mortal Kombat).The news of the development of the cartoon will delight fans of the franchise, many of whom have lost hope of seeing the return of their favorite characters to the movie screens. Recall that in the mid-90s, two films were already created based on the Midway game series. While the first was successful at the box office and won a cult status among fans of action movies, the second failed to recoup the budget and received devastating press reviews.  In 2009, Midway was taken over by Warner Bros. A year later, Kevin Tancharoen directed the unauthorized short film Mortal Kombat: Rebirth to prove to the bosses of the Hollywood company that he can be trusted to work on the full-length restart of the franchise. The eight-minute tape made such an impression on the heads of the studio that they entrusted the talented director not only with the director's chair for the film, but also with the work on the Mortal Kombat: Legacy series. To the disappointment of Mortal Kombat fans, shortly after the filming of the second season of the successful web project, Tancharoen announced his resignation as director of the feature film. Although the studio soon found a new steering project in the face of Australian advertising master Simon McQuoid, the fate of the reboot was in limbo. In July last year, rumors about a possible plot of the film appeared on the Web, but over the past six months they have not been confirmed by the WB leadership.  It is possible that the studio decided to shoot an animated version of Mortal Kombat in order to assess the level of viewers' interest in their intellectual property. If the cartoon is successful with the public, the WB bosses may well finally give the green light to a live film about a combat tournament with the participation of Earth's greatest warriors. The name and details of the plot of the animation project are still kept secret, but insiders managed to find out that Joel McHale ("Classmates") and "Dexter" star Jennifer Carpenter could give the votes to its main characters.
