Mortal Kombat will be a cartoon

Image Warner Bros. will stir up interest in a new film based on the Mortal Kombat game series. The animation department of the studio is preparing an animated film "Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge".

The details of the script by Jeremy Adams ("Supernatural") are kept secret. It is obvious that the ninja Hanzo Hasashi, nicknamed Scorpio, will play an important role in the plot. The cast will be led by Joel McHale ("The X-Files") and Jennifer Carpenter ("Dexter"), who will give the voices to Johnny Cage and Sonia Blade, respectively. Spectators will also see fights featuring Sub-Zero, Liu Kang, Quan Chi, Kano, Jax, Goro, Kitana and Raiden.

The cartoon's directorial chair will be taken by Rick Morales, who has already worked with Warner Bros. Animation as storyboarder for Batman: Attack on Arkham and director of the Green Lantern animation show. The creator of the game, Ed Boone, took over as the creative consultant for the project.
