Women at War

Image The Lionsgate Film Company intends to take viewers to the fields of World War II and tell about the invaluable contribution of brave British women to the victory over fascism. As it became known to Variety, the Hollywood studio has begun work on the film adaptation of Janie Hampton's book How Guides Girls Won the War.

At the beginning of the 20th century, British Lieutenant General Robert Baden-Powell decided to organize a scout movement in Foggy Albion. In 1909, a scout parade took place in London, at which Baden-Powell noticed several girls among 11,000 boys. Together with his sister Agnes, the lieutenant general decided to create a separate movement for young ladies, called "guiding".

During World War II, female guides taught field cooks to whip up, maintained morale in bomb shelters, knitted warm clothes for soldiers, provided first aid to the wounded, and helped millions of children travel to safe areas in the UK.

The book will be adapted for the big screen by J. Mills Goodlow (Age of Adaline), and two-time Academy Award nominee Mark E. Platt (The Spy Bridge, La La Land) will take over the production.
