USAn box office in the hands of ”Coach”
After two extremely unsuccessful weekends in financial terms, when the total box office receipts did not rise above 560 million rubles, this past weekend the proceeds of cinemas grew by 18% and amounted to about 655 million rubles. For the ninth time this year, a USA-made film, the sports drama "Coach", has become a triumphant film.Danila Kozlovsky's directorial debut tells the story of a national football player who, after an unfortunate mistake, leaves the club, ends his career and becomes the coach of a small provincial team. With a budget of 390 million rubles. for the premiere weekend, the sports drama was able to earn a little over 340 million rubles. "Coach" managed to bypass the debut results of such films with Danila Kozlovsky as "Legend No. 17", which received 250 million rubles at the start in 2013, and "Viking", which started distribution a year ago at 249 million rubles. But the premiere training camp of the "Crew" remained unattainable. In the spring of 2016, the film, which currently ranks fifth in the list of the highest-grossing USA films in the entire modern history of our film distribution, began its march through cinemas with an amount of 501 million rubles. As for domestic films released this year, so far the starting fees were higher only for the melodrama "Ice" (470 million rubles), which was also dedicated to sports.  Critics and viewers appreciated Danila Kozlovsky's debut. Of course, it was not without a number of minuses and shortcomings, among which they note problems with the script and the disclosure of characters, an indistinct romantic line and a certain amount of pathos, but on the whole the reviewers speak positively about the "Trainer". They praise the general atmosphere of the picture, good acting work. The film was played into the hands of the current topic and the upcoming World Cup.  Last week's leader, a fantastic action movie based on the series of games of the same name "Rampage", could not withstand the onslaught of "Trainer" and, having lost 56% of the starting fees, dropped to second place. Dwayne Johnson, trying to save the planet from giant monsters, was able to earn an additional 80 million rubles. In total, in two weeks of rolling, the tape mastered 314 million rubles. If we compare the fees of "Rampage" with the results of past films with Johnson, they look more than modest. For example, the San Andreas Rift collected about 464 million rubles over the same period of time, and the recent remake of Jumanji after the second weekend had 544 million rubles in its piggy bank.  The third place is taken by the horror film Quiet Place, which showed the smallest drop in box office receipts among all the participants in the current five. The box office of the film sank by only 38% compared to the premiere weekend and amounted to 76 million rubles. In total, the horror film with John Krasinski and Emily Blunt in the lead roles is 247 million rubles.  The fourth place was kept by the fantastic blockbuster Ready Player One, which has been on the list of box office leaders for a month now.
