The British are preparing Amy Winehouse's biopic

Image In 2015, director Asif Kapadia filmed the documentary Amy, dedicated to the life and death of the famous English singer Amy Winehouse. The tape almost seven times recouped its budget and won many prestigious awards - from Grammy to Oscar in the nomination for Best Documentary. Despite a warm welcome in the press, the painting was severely criticized by the Winehouse family. As it became known to The Wrap, the singer's father is ready to honor her memory with an authorized biopic.

Mitch Winehouse made his first attempt to make a feature film about his famous daughter shortly after the world premiere of the documentary Kapadia. At the end of 2015, he entered into negotiations with the Hollywood studio Lotus Entertainment, which intended to invite Kersten Sheridan (August Rush) to the director's chair and entrust the role of Amy Winehouse to the star of the original "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" Noomi Rapace. Apparently, over the past three years, Mitch and the leaders of the California company have not managed to agree on the tone and style of the film project.

As a result, the singer's heirs chose to transfer the rights to create the tape to the British studio Monumental Pictures. The script of the film will be written by ex-vocalist of pop group Modern Romance Joff Dean ("Freaky Bots"), and her director's chair is still vacant.

Filming of the biographical drama will begin next year. The film's box office is expected to go to the Amy Winehouse Charitable Foundation, which was created to support people struggling with alcohol and drug addiction.
