Will Jake Gyllenhaal play Mysterio?
It has long been rumored that Jake Gyllenhaal will play Mysterio in the Spider-Man sequel. As it turns out, this was one of the worst-kept secrets of the expanded Marvel universe. Today, the actor finally signed up on Instagram and in his first post, he unequivocally hinted that he would really try on the costume of the illusionist villain in Spider-Man: Far From Home.Gyllenhaal posted a short and funny video of him reading the 311th issue of The Amazing Spider-Man, with the caption: "Just now realized that I'm not playing Spider-Man." Recall that the actor auditioned for the role of Peter Parker in the first feature film about a teenage superhero, which Tobey Maguire eventually got.  The comic tells a rather dark story, with Mysterio acting as the main antagonist. He makes Spider believe that he is responsible for the brutal death of an innocent civilian through an elaborate illusion. Perhaps this story is taken as the basis for the plot of the upcoming sequel. It is known that Tom Holland, despite the fact that his character turned into a pile of ash at the end of Infinity War, will return to the image of Peter Parker in a new adventure, and for the first time in the history of the franchise, the character will travel to Europe. Soon the first trailer of the film should appear on the Web, where we will see Mysterio for the first time. Then it will be possible to know for sure whether the comic that Gyllenhaal read influenced the plot of the film. Homecoming proved to be a very successful reboot for the franchise.
