Cannes surrendered to the onslaught of parasites: the winners of the show

Image The 72nd Cannes Film Festival has ended in France, and according to the results, we can say that it turned out to be one of the strongest in the past few years. Great masters - Pedro Almodovar, Quentin Tarantino, Terrence Malik, Pong Joon-ho - have returned to the Cote d'Azur with their, albeit not the best in their careers, but certainly important and worthy works. The more modest contestants, such as "Portrait of a Young Woman on Fire" by Celine Schyamma and "Lake of Wild Geese" by Diao Yingan, were also interesting, and the parallel sections caused an unprecedented stir. The jury headed by Alejandro Gonzalez did not have to envy Inarritu - there were several films worthy of the main prize.

According to the results, it is obvious that they considered the most worthy films that were acutely social and mainly specific to the French agenda. But the acting awards went to the stars - Antonio Banderas (quite deservedly) and Emily Beecham (frankly speaking, Valerie Panahi's chilling play was stronger for Malik). Unfortunately, Almodovar and the same Malik, so beloved by us, were deprived of serious awards. As expected, nothing serious went into Tarantino's piggy bank. In general, the jury traditionally disagreed with the critics on many points. But they agreed on one thing - there was no better film than "Parasites" at this festival. South Korean director Bong Joon-ho will deservedly take the Palme d'Or with him, with which we congratulate him.
