Cannes 2017: Zvyagintsev's dislike and the ubiquitous Kidman
This year, from 17 to 28 May on the Cote d'Azur, the jubilee 70th International Cannes Film Festival will be held, and today at a press conference in Paris it was announced who will compete for the main prizes.In total, 49 films from 29 countries will take part in various competition programs of the festival. One of the surprises that awaited those present at the press conference was the inclusion of a virtual reality project from Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu into the program. Also, the festival will show two episodes from the new "Twin Peaks". The jury of this year's competition is headed by Pedro Almodovar , who won Cannes in various categories for the paintings "All About My Mother", "The Return" and "The Skin I Live In". The poster of the anniversary festival celebrates the legend of Italian cinema Claudia Cardinale, who became famous thanks to the films Once Upon a Time in the Wild West, 8 and a Half and Leopard.  The jury of the competition will have to make a difficult choice, however, as always. Many famous filmmakers will bring their works to the festival - Michael Haneke, Sofia Coppola, Ben and Joshua Safdie, Francois Ozon, Yorgos Lantimos. Take the same Haneke - the director's last two trips to Cannes with the films "Love" and "White Ribbon" ended with the fact that he won the Palme d'Or . If we talk about stars, then Nicole Kidman played in three films at once presented at the festival - " The Killing of a Sacred Deer " and " Fatal Temptation ", as well as in the comedy "How talking to girls at parties ”, participating out of competition.  USA cinema in the Main Competition of Cannes-2017 will be represented by Andrey Zvyagintsev with his new film " Dislike ". Let us remind you that the director has already visited the festival several times. So, in 2014, his "Leviathan" won the award for the best screenplay, and "Elena" in 2011 - the jury prize of the program "Unusual look" .
