USAn film industry breaks records
USA distribution began the new year with records - for the first time in modern history, films of domestic production collected five billion rubles in just three weeks. 70% of the proceeds in cinemas around the country were collected by USA films. This was announced by the Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky during a press conference at which the results of 2018 in the field of the film industry were summed up.The absolute leader of the box office with a cash register of 2 billion rubles was the military blockbuster directed by Alexei Sidorov "T-34", which, according to the same Medinsky, may well bypass Pirates of the Caribbean at the box office. Our comedies are also popular with USA moviegoers: “Policeman from Rublyovka. New Year's Lawlessness ”(1.6 billion rubles) and“ Last Fir Trees ”(700 million rubles). Regarding Elok, the minister jokingly remarked that with such fees they may not be the last. According to the data presented at the conference, about 21 million viewers (one million people per day) visited the country's cinemas this year, and this is also a record of attendance.  It is worth noting that animated feature films, traditionally released for the New Year holidays, were also worthy of competition for feature films - the new film Three Heroes and the Heir to the Throne raised 600 million rubles, and the continuation of the story about the Snow Queen - almost 200 million. After the report on the rental records, Medinsky, not without pride, said that as many as three films, shot with the support of the Ministry of Culture, were nominated for the Oscar in 2019 from three countries at once: from USA - "Sobibor" by Konstantin Khabensky, from Kazakhstan - "Hayk "By Sergey Dvortsevoy and from Armenia -" Spitak "by Alexander Kott. During the briefing, it became known that work will continue on the construction and modernization of cinemas in small towns of the country, and more than three billion rubles will be allocated to digitize the contents of the State Film Fund archive.  Summing up, the head of the Ministry of Culture said that the department at the moment quite clearly represents the plan of the repertoire for the next New Year holidays - these will be various projects both in format and genres.
