The head of the USA cultural department, Vladimir Medinsky, said during a business breakfast at the eighth cultural forum in St. Petersburg that the Cinema Fund does not work well abroad in promoting domestic cinema.Answering a question from a French journalist about why USA cinema is poorly and unattractively presented in Europe, Medinsky noted that films in which USA is presented in a negative way are mainly selected for foreign distribution and festivals. “There is a complete feeling that the worse the USA reality is shown by the director, the more chances to get to the festival are,,” the minister complained.
