The Pixel Director will drop by Freddie
Several years ago, director Chris Columbus gave viewers the opportunity to see Pacman on the big screens, and now the filmmaker will take up the adaptation of another popular video game. According to New Line, Columbus will lead the filming of Five Nights at Freddy's and will also write the script for it.Previously, the New Line studio was engaged in the film, but work on the adaptation did not get off the ground, and the major decided to get rid of the unnecessary burden by putting the project up for sale. In March last year, the rights to it were bought by Blumhouse, whose preference was given by the creator of the original, Scott Coughton. He will co-produce the film adaptation alongside Columbus and Jason Bloom. The action of the video game takes place in a pizzeria, the user of which must become a guard. He has to keep an eye on CCTV cameras, locks and doors so as not to fall into the clutches of animatronic animals walking around the institution at night. Given the involvement of Blumhouse, it can be assumed that the usual formula will be applied to Five Nights at Freddie's - minimum costs in the presence of a quality script and few, but appropriate for the genre, special effects. In addition, the events here, as in many horror movies, take place in one place and are unlikely to go beyond the pizzeria.  Chris Columbus's career has both ups and downs. "Pixels" was crushed by critics to smithereens, and the Percy Jackson franchise was limited to two films, the second of which barely reached the level of self-sufficiency. There are two parts of "Harry Potter" in Columbus's track record, but his early works - the comedies "Home Alone" and "Mrs. Doubtfire" nevertheless brought him the greatest popularity.
