Kalugina and Novoseltsev: Review of the Office Romance Remake

Image Sometimes you want to throw all the abstruse masterpieces of cinema with a thousand hidden meanings on the far shelf and relieve your brain by watching some simple straightforward nonsense. But not so uncomplicated that you vomit at the end due to the fact that half of the actors are replaying, and the other are not actors at all.

As one of the options for unloading the brain, we suggest you use the recently released remake of the well-known and beloved movie slag Office Romance. Nowadays. Yes, we know, a million reasons have already been named not to watch this movie at all, but we disobeyed, watched, and that's what we have to say.

ImageIt is clear that the remake implies the same characters and approximately the same plot, but with new decorations. In Office Romance 2, these decorations are as close as possible to our realities. Kalugina attends business trainings, her secretary is a typical representative of the metrosexual caste, a little espionage is mixed into the plot, without which modern business is nowhere, sex in the workplace is added, which also happens in large companies all the time. And even the Samokhvalov party for his own people, at which in the original version Novoseltsev sang and danced so desperately, here it was reincarnated into a real corporate party. The scene of the hooking Novoseltsev Kalugina
Of course, Khodchenkova's acting talent is far from the genius of Alisa Brunovna, and Vova Zelensky is also not quite Myagkov, but one cannot say that they did not cope with their roles. Svetlana Khodchenkova, who has extensive experience in portraying a variety of female feelings behind her, was very convincing in some scenes, although sometimes she hung up (if you are interested in a percentage, about 80 to 20). Zelensky, of course, was a little lost against her background, but on the whole he was embarrassed and swaggered, as it should be for a real Anatoly Yefremovich , also quite convincingly.

ImageUnfortunately, with obvious efforts and good data, these actors failed to repeat or recreate that magic, that magic of relations that was woven in 1977 at the Mosfilm studio between Freundlich and Myagkov. Because of this magic, in fact, we revise the old film several times a year. We won't be new, and they don't expect it from us.

It was curious to look at Marat Basharov in the role of Samokhvalov , a little less curious - at the nanny Vika in the role of Ryzhova , and somehow it turned out to be offensive that we were deprived of a sad denouement of their relationship. But everyone liked the "secretut" Vadik performed by Pasha Volya. Still - "stylish, fashionable, modern", and played well, could be worse.

ImageThe soundtrack of the second Office romance is controversial. Firstly, from time to time an original theme plays there with painfully familiar bass and implying further “my soul has no peace”. This music, of course, is always pleasant and joyful to listen to, even if dead animals were broadcast on the screen. But here comes the "second" - namely, the melodies, pulled from different movie hits, as if at random. They are also pleasant and beloved (“Halleluja” Rea Garvey, “You're beautiful” James Blant, “After Dark” Tito & Tarantula), but while the subconscious is happy and dancing, the consciousness is at a loss: “Well, why is this here? For what?" They probably wanted, like in Brother-2, to leave a little at the expense of hits, but either the hits are not the same,
We almost forgot! Indeed, today one of the main criteria for assessing domestic cinema is the volume of product placement. And this remake is no exception, but to the credit of not particularly greedy creators, advertising is present here in volumes that do not go beyond the limits of the audience's comfort. Simply put, not so much infuriates as touches. Drink the vitamins with cognac, dear viewers!

Comparing the new movie with the original is probably inappropriate. It seems that the creators of the remake did not set themselves the goal of filming something brilliant. By the way, the slogan of the second Office novel hints about this: "The film is based on a real masterpiece." And this picture really gives a good rest to the head, without causing a desire to leave the country or sue all the actors for moral damage. Happy viewing!
