Warner Bros. lost the rights to the Guardians
Los Angeles District Court ruled unexpectedly in Warner Bros. and Fox for ownership of the Guardians. The court confirmed Fox's rights to the graphic novel and allowed the movie company to distribute the Zack Snyder movie. Previously, it was assumed that the trial on this matter would begin in January 2009. Fox was keen to block the release of Watchmen under the Warner Bros. label, claiming that Fox has owned the rights to the comic since the late 1980s.
