Review of the movie Judgment Night 3. Hollywood Guillotine

Sometimes such movies appear, as if from nowhere, ideas in which they cling to the living and dragged as if on a hook into the auditorium, they say, look a slave and be afraid, because this is what the public is going to, which the feeble-minded rulers of this despotic the world and their empty-headed followers. And if you look at today's news headlines, at the circus organized in the political atmosphere of both the United States and Great Britain, you may get the feeling that the world is really going to hell, and we are sliding after it in constant concern about what to put on the table for lunch.

Therefore, it is not surprising that "Doomsday" and the sequels that followed turned into big hits, and the question "Would you go cleaning the streets with a broom, but with an automatic machine" began to surface more often than activists fighting for firearms control would like. The only problem is that the ideas of director / screenwriter James DeMonaco are up-to-date to the chills that occasionally run down the spine while watching, but the implementation barely breathes, like a victim who has already lost most of the blood.

It would seem that the creators saw through the nut, if not from the first, but from the second time, and finally understood how to approach such a delicate material. However, "Judgment Night 3" is full of disappointments, both visual and ideological. From an action movie, the movie turned into a frankly poorly movieed bustle, which cannot even be perceived as the artistic vision of the director. The plot quickly turns from topical to outdated and boring.

When Senator Charlie Ron (Elizabeth Mitchell) announces that he will cancel Judgment Night as soon as he becomes president, the responsibility for her life falls on the already familiar to the audience Leo Barnes ( Frank Grillo), whose practicality does not betray him neither in moments of danger, nor in moments of absolute absurdity of the actions of the senator's ward. Betrayed by their own people, they must flee through the streets of night Washington, fleeing the maniacs who took to the streets and at the same time pursuing their echelon of elite soldiers. A similar running around was seen in the second movie, where she was coherent, consistent and eerily inventive. Here, of the new acquisitions, there are only tourists, who came to clean up the Americans with their own hands (by the way, the USAs, it's funny, isn't it?).

DeMonaco strives to create villains so repulsive that they become funny, not scary. The best example of this is a girl with a headache who persistently tries to kill the shopkeeper because he would not let her steal the candy. “I want my candy!” She screams like an abnormal, and the edge of reality slips away, depriving the movie of its main advantage: the very annoying question “What if ..?”.

What if the creators didn't feed all the good ideas to please the second movie in the series, leaving ourselves stranded? After all, very quickly it becomes obvious that after a strong tie, DeMonaco's sleeves are empty. The only remaining ace - Frank Grillo - is working for the good of the movie, tirelessly, but when one of the entire movie crew works alone, well, maybe one and a half actors (Mitchell as a senator is adequate, but the character itself is annoying to the point of shaking), then this is Sisyphean work. The creators of "Doomsday 3" do not make any effort to make something really meaningful out of this picture, casually mentioning problems and topics that remain unresolved. And that's for three movies!

"Doomsday 4" cannot take place just because there is nothing more to tell DeMonaco. Its not attractive visual style, repulsive characters, stupid heroes and rattling music of Nathan Whitehead only emphasize the cheapness of the entire project, not trying to hide it, but on the contrary, throwing it in the face of the viewer, as if he were to blame. This even applies to action scenes, devoid of almost any intensity of action, but endowed with mediocre choreography fights. Not only are they chaotically movieed, they are also predictable, like the ending of a Disney cartoon: and they lived happily ever after, with the exception of one unfortunate person who managed to die on the way.

Therefore, "Judgment Night 3" is a thriller that is strongly not recommended for viewing. Firstly, this movie does not actually work as a thriller. Secondly, all the ideas are repeated virtually from movie to movie. Thirdly, the ingenuity of the creators this time also changed (although a spin-off about USA tourists chopping Americans with machetes with knives would go with a bang in USA). However, I still want to believe that there are more people who are ready to wear T-shirts "Free Hugs" than those who are ready to rip out their guts for a piece of Twix.
