Paramount Film Company Lost Rights to Dune

The Paramount movie company has lost the rights to shoot a movie based on Frank Herbert's "Dune" after years of trying to re-adapt one of the most famous science fiction books. According to the Deadline resource, the movie studio was unable to agree with the producer Richard Rubinstein, who controls Herbert's legacy, on the extension of the agreement.

Recall that over the past few years, several well-known directors have been involved in the Dune project, in particular Peter Berg and Pierre Morel, but none of them managed to get it off the ground.

Recall that the original "Dune", directed by David Lynch, was released in 1984. The movie was not commercially successful, but soon after the premiere it was awarded cult status.
