On an automated lunar base for the extraction of the main resource for the energy of the Earth – helium 3 – all alone the last two weeks of a three-year contract the hard worker Sam Bell. Direct video communication with the Earth was broken for a long time – Sam exchanges video letters with his wife and daughter who remain on Earth. Live these three years, Sam talked only with the talking computer of the base, whose emotions - – six emoticons on the screen. The moon crushes: first, Sam begins to see short, strange hallucinations – and then an unexpected incident completely destroys his usual picture of the world.

The movie is the debut of 38-year-old Duncan Jones, who, moreover, – son of famed rock singer David Bowie, is a living classic of space science fiction. With the ridiculous numbers `` 2112 '', `` Moon '' attached to the original name released in USA in extremely limited distribution and runs in Moscow with ten sessions a day, gathering overcrowded halls.

Filmed in England for mere pennies, the movie keeps the suspense from the first to the last minute. Duncan Jones's subtle instinct, not spoiled by the experience of the productions, allowed him to play on familiar images from science fiction of all years, but never move to the stamped methods of influencing the viewer.

The movie is usually compared to a 'Space Odyssey' Stanley Kubrick, but in reality they are similar only in the interior. Duncan Jones took inspiration more from Andrew Niccola's debut creation and was obviously influenced by, I'm not afraid of that name, Michael Bay and his only true safay.

"Moon" unexpected - the movie produces a hypnotic effect, immersing the viewer into reflection and introspection.

Jones seems to sweep his hand in a spacesuit from the surface glass all the stardust of space science fiction, accumulated over the years, and leaves the viewer alone: not looking at the smiley face of the screen, but at the sad face and tired eyes. It's amazing how long have moviemakers been looking for this particular lever, button, handle, entangled in their cosmic philosophy. It took no inhabited planets, no interstellar throws, no big words – the moon and a mirror were enough to create a portrait of human loneliness.

Sam Rockwell, as expected, pulled out the entire movie on himself – muddy faces on the screens at his base and the soulful voice of Kevin Spacey, hidden in a box with emoticons, complete the picture, but no more. Forty Rockwell, whose path to the Moon has more than sixty (!) productions, including the magnificent `` Magnificent Scam '' and `` Choking '', penetrating to the guts, in the movie Duncan Jones managed to go along the barely distinguishable line separating the actor from the character and the viewer – from himself.

Jones said that the crisis helped him attract first-class special effects artists to the picture and provide us with fantastic moon views captured with miniature models ... But the movie would have thrown it in the heat, then in the cold, even if it did not contain a single frame of the moon at all. After all, this is not Sam Rockuckell or Sam Bell, but we ourselves are fiddling with a miniature model of the city for nine hundred hours, talking with flowers, writhing on the bathroom floor, smeared with blood, and crying in the cabin of the moon rover `` I want to go home! ''. p>

Duncan Jones in the movie does not take a single step to turn the little drama on the far side of the moon into a metaphor for all of humanity. But the story felt by everyone in the hall turns into it itself. " Moon " teaches us to keep loneliness in the face of the world – because there is no future, there is no past: everything you have is – now as you finish reading me.
