The Hobbit won't have an oversized trailer

Peter Jackson no longer supports the plan to release trailers for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey at 48 frames per second. The New Zealand director spoke about this in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

"Personally, I am against these videos, since 48 frames per second is an experience that you have to go through with the entire movie. A trailer of two and a half minutes will not allow you to enjoy the new quality," Jackson said.

According to the director, he is already accustomed to just such a video sequence, since he constantly looks at the footage, sometimes for several hours a day. "After a while, you completely forget that the frame rate has changed. In my opinion, this is the best way to watch stereoscopic movies," he added.

Jackson also stressed that the visuals that viewers will see in theaters in December 2012 will be very different from those shown at CinemaCon.

"We will definitely experiment with various processing and correction technologies at the post-production stage so that the footage shot at 48 frames per second looks more organic. But we will not do this until we finish shooting, that is, in July", - said the director.
