Review of the movie Angels and Demons. Vatican 2-hour commercial

The Vatican's discontent with the release of Angels and Demons, the sequel to The Da Vinci Code, is not entirely clear. Ron Howard made a political thriller, the plot of which is quite different from the literary source, and in general is a very expensive and high-quality advertisement for the Holy See.

1. On a larger scale, the movie, however, turned out to be more intimate than The Da Vinci Code.
2. The ban on movieing in the Vatican was good for the movie. Since the interiors and architectural monuments completed on a computer look better than the originals, in terms of their safety and cleanliness.
3. The characters of the heroes are much worse worked out than in The Code. No Teabing's level Silas and even Fache will not be seen by the audience. Hanks is habitually good, as is McGregor, but they don't show anything outstanding.
4. It is impossible to follow Langdon's train of thought and evaluate all his insights for a person who has not read the book and does not know at least in general outline the history of religion and art. In this sense, the Code was clearer. And this is a clear miscalculation of the scriptwriter and director.
5. The musical and general sound design is majestic, but its drama is sometimes excessive and interferes with the movement along the storyline.
6. The movie evokes a burning desire to get into the archives of the Vatican and a slightly less burning desire to refresh their knowledge of history.
7. It is completely unclear why the Holy See is so up against Ron Howard. He shot a great ad, two hours long demonstrating all the power and inviolability of the Vatican.
8. " Angels and Demons " - high-quality and expensive thriller with good actors. But it doesn't match the level of hype surrounding Brown's work.
9. The box office will be more modest than Code's.
10. Despite all the claims, the movie makes you want to watch it again after a while.
