USAn cartoonists turned to the president for protection
A group of USA animators, screenwriters and directors of animated movies appealed to Dmitry Medvedev with a request to protect their interests in a dispute with FSUE Soyuzmultmovie. According to Kommersant, the creators of the popular cartoon heroes, in particular, declare that Soyuzmultmovie enters into contracts with other companies on the right to use the characters, and pays their authors “mere pennies”. The FSUE management rejects the claims, believing that the studio has the right to dispose not only of the cartoons themselves, but also of their heroes. Among the signatories are such well-known figures as Eduard Uspensky, Grigory Oster, Alexander Kurlyandsky, Yuri Entin, Alexei Kotenochkin.
