Review of the movie Celibate Week. Both laughter and sin

That the movie “ Celibate Week ” removed by the Farrelly brothers can be understood already in the first few minutes. Back in 1994, their first project `` Dumb and Dumber '' was a comedy discovery. It's so funny to make a whole movie about the adventures of the hapless “ stupid ” hasn't been working since the 'Unlucky' was movieed with Pierre Richard and Gerard Depardieu. But if the first movie of the Farrelly brothers was funny, and children under 17 were allowed to go to it, then not only are children not allowed to watch the new movie of the brothers, but also adults there, unfortunately, will have almost nowhere to laugh.

The plot of the movie is simple. The wives of two friends, Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis, realize that something is going wrong in their marriage. And after the completely indecent `` pranks '' rdquo; their husbands, wives decide to give their faithful a “ celibate ” a week, so that they disperse and return to their wives rested from the difficult bonds of marriage. Wives hope that their husbands will not betray their marital vows this week, and the husbands themselves, from happiness, do not know where to go.

By adding a line with a marital conscience and feelings of about family troubles, the moviemakers made it much more boring. When watching the movie, it seems that the Farrelly brothers have been arguing among themselves for a long time and have not come to a conclusion about what to shoot - about the difficult life in marriage or about how grown-up guys come off when their wives and children are not around.

Casting didn't help Farrelly too much in making a really funny comedy. Despite the presence in the movie of Owen Wilson, (who is now trying to move away from the role of a comedian), and Jason Sudeikis, who was supposed to attract fans of the `` Hangover in Vegas '', watch `` Celibate Week '' thanks to their efforts, it doesn't get any more interesting.

Throughout the movie, the comparison of “Celibate Week” constantly begs me. with designs by Todd Phillips. And it seems to me quite appropriate. Both the Farrell brothers and Todd Phillips make movies in the same genre. And while Farrelly has a lot more experience in comedy, whose goal is only to laugh at the next `` dumb '', Todd Phillips only thanks to the `` Hangover in Vegas ''; and “ Butt ” has gained more popularity and more impressive box-office receipts than the works of the Farrelly brothers.

I think this success was influenced not only by better casting, but also by a much more witty script, not based only on flat jokes and situations that are more disgusting than funny. Farrelly's attempt to combine in one movie two different genres - and ndash; classic comedy and rom-com – led to the fact that the movie was neither funny nor lyrical.
