The share of USAn movies fell below 10 percent
For 10 months of 2011, the total box office receipts of movies released in USA reached 27.6 billion rubles. This is evidenced by the results of a study conducted by Movie Research. This is eight percent more than in the same period last year. Moreover, the number of cinema visitors has decreased by four percent. Positive dynamics for the USA market was recorded only due to an increase in ticket prices. A little more than 90 percent of all box office receipts were provided by foreign movies. The contribution of domestic movie projects fell to a critical level and amounted to less than ten percent. Pirates of the Caribbean 4 became the highest-grossing and most visited movie in 2011.
