Comedy Interview will not be released in Asian countries

Sony Pictures' comedy "Interview", which deals with the torture of the physical elimination of the DPRK leader, will not be released in Asian countries, including Japan and South Korea. The Hollywood Reporter reports this with reference to its sources.

Representatives of the company argue that this decision has nothing to do with a hacker attack, as a result of which many internal documents of Sony Pictures, including correspondence of its management, have become public, and movies that have not yet been released have been leaked to the Internet.

Note that earlier a group of cybercriminals threatened to continue subversive activities if the comedy was not canceled. Protests followed from the DPRK authorities, who considered that the movie project defamed the honor and dignity of a statesman.

The studio's management appealed to law enforcement agencies with a complaint about the actions of intruders. The FBI joined the investigation. At the same time, Sony Pictures sent out a request to the owners of file-sharing networks to remove copies of their movies.

The Interview starred James Franco, Seth Rogen, Randall Park, Lizzie Caplan, Tommy Chang, Charles Chun, Timothy Simons, Justin Lee, Anesha Bailey, Mercy Malik and other actors.

The movie will premiere in North America on December 25, 2014.
