Robert Pattinson to play Lawrence of Arabia
Robert Pattinson will star in The Queen of the Desert, directed by Werner Herzog. This is reported by the Variety edition. The plot will center on the popular British writer, archaeologist and cartographer Gertrude Bell, one of the first women to graduate from Oxford University at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. She took a trip to the Middle East, in the process of which the future borders of Iraq, Jordan and Saudi Arabia were determined. The role of Bell is to be played by Naomi Watts. Pattinson is to become Thomas Edward Lawrence, a British officer, writer and archaeologist who became known worldwide as Lawrence of Arabia. Filming should begin in the fall of 2012.
