Scientists have learned to control metal in the spirit of the T1000 Terminator

Researchers at the University of North Carolina, probably inspired by the image of the Terminator T1000 from the movie Terminator 2: Doomsday, were able to experimentally confirm the ability to change the shape of a metal object under the influence of an electric current.

In a note published on the website of the institution itself, it is said that an alloy of gallium and indium was used in the experiment. The surface tension was varied using a low voltage current. The metal took the form set by scientists, and then, when the polarity changed, returned to its original state.

Naturally, it is still very far from practical use in the creation of combat vehicles capable of independently controlling these processes, but the principle itself can be used in various devices in the near future.
