Inspired by the success of 007: Skyfall Coordinates and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, MGM plans to movie a remake of the famous Ben Hur movie. This is reported by the Deadline edition.

Note that the movie itself, released in 1959 by director William Wilder, now does not belong to MGM, as it was sold in the 80s of the last century to MGM founder Ted Turner, but the book Lew Wallace, on which he was movieed, is now public property and is available for new movie adaptations.

It takes place at the beginning of the first century AD, and the plot is built around the Jewish prince Judas Ben Hur, who, due to betrayal friend becomes a slave in Roman galleys, and then, due to coincidence, the successor of a Roman nobleman. He returns to his homeland to take revenge on his abuser and find his missing mother and sisters.

A parallel storyline is dedicated to Jesus Christ, who was preaching at this time in Judea. The paths of Ben Hur and the Savior intersect several times.

Recall that the movie `` Ben Hur '', starring Charlton Heston, was one of the most ambitious projects of its time and was awarded 11 Oscars.
