Under the Dome may run for 15 seasons
On Monday, May 19, 2014, CBS held a press conference at which the creators of Under the Dome shared their plans for the show's second season. This was reported by The Hollywood Reporter. CBS Television Studios President David Stapf recalled that the series Under the Dome, based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King, became the most popular drama on broadcast television last year. The show's executive producer, Neil Baer, noted that even though the events described in Stephen King's novel are ending by the second season and a new story begins, King agreed to `` give his blessing '' and wrote the script for the first episode, in which he will also play a cameo role. In this episode, the dome becomes magnetically active, and all metal objects in the city rise upward, resulting in the death of at least one key character. “What I love about Stephen King,” commented Baer, “is that in his world the ordinary becomes extraordinary. And the barbecue is just the beginning. In the first episode, things we `` trusted '' become dangerous – refrigerators and stoves are becoming our enemies. ” Baer also suggested that the series could run 15 seasons. Specifically, he said, “The book covers the events of one week, and it’s been two weeks on the show. The second season will add another two weeks.
