James Cameron did not rule out restarting The Terminator

James Cameron did not rule out the possibility of a complete restart of "The Terminator" after all rights to the franchise return to him in 2019. The director spoke about this in an interview with EmpireOnline.

"Frankly, I'm not looking that far ahead. I still have plenty of time to think about it. It might be fun to reboot the franchise. But a lot has happened to it lately, people might just get tired of The Terminator." he said.

As for the impact that a new movie coming out in mid-2015 may have on the franchise, Cameron admitted that he does not care. "It's not my problem. It's like being a grandfather. Children come, but then they go to their place," he added. Recall that at one time Cameron, in order to receive funding, ceded the rights to "Terminator" for a symbolic payment of one dollar to the producer Gail Ann Hurd, who later became his wife.

The original movie recouped production costs many times over and became a cult movie in its genre. On July 1, 2015, the premiere of the fifth movie in the series, directed by Alan Taylor, will take place. Arnold Schwarzenegger again played the title role.
