Rolling Stone Magazine presented the complete soundtrack for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Most of it was written by composer Howard Shore, and the title song `` Song of the Lonely Mountain '' Recorded by musician Neil Fin. The instrumental part of the soundtrack was recorded in London at Abbey Road Studios. Fin's group worked at Peter Jackson's studio in New Zealand. The performer communicated with the composer via e-mail and, by his own admission, did not hear the entire soundtrack of the picture until the premiere in Wellington.
