83 foreign movies will fight for the right to nominate for the Oscar

The American Film Academy has presented a list of foreign movies that have passed the selection and will be able to compete for the right to represent their countries at the Oscars 2015. According to an official press release received by the Novosti Kino portal, it includes 83 movies, including from Panama, Malta, Mauritania and Kosovo, which have not previously participated in the Oscar race.

USA is represented by the movie "Leviathan", which was directed by Andrei Zvyagintsev. Recall that her nomination at home was accompanied by a scandal. The producers of the comedy "Bitter!", Which took the second place in the number of votes of the participants of the national "Oscar committee," wrote an open letter in which they did not agree with the victory of "Leviathan" and suggested that the moviemakers recuse themselves. Otherwise, they promised to challenge the nomination of this candidate.

Ukraine will be represented by the movie "Guide", directed by Oles Sanin, Azerbaijan - by the movie "Nabat", created by director Elchin Musaoglu.

Let us remind you that the short list of nominees will be presented by the American Film Academy on January 15, 2015. The awards ceremony itself will take place on February 22, 2015 in Los Angeles.

The first winners of the Oscar 2015 have already been announced. They are French actor, screenwriter and writer Jean-Claude Career, Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki and Irish actress Maureen O'Hara. Harri Belafonte, an American actor, singer and public figure, will receive the Gene Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
