New York movie critics chose the best movies of the year
The New York Film Critics Society has selected the best movie projects and moviemakers of 2013. Traditionally, it is with the presentation of this award that the big award season begins. The American Scam was declared the best movie of the year, critics also recognized its script as the best in 2013. Best Directing Award went to Steve McQueen for 12 Years a Slave. The best leading performers were named Robert Redford (Hope Will Not Fade) and Cate Blanchett (Jasmine). Jennifer Lawrence (American Scam) was named the best supporting actor. and Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club). The Best Animation Project of 2013 was named The Wind Rises.
