AMC has announced that the drama series Mad Men Lionsgate will be renewed for a seventh, final season of 14 episodes. The first seven episodes (" The Beginning ") will see viewers in the spring of 2014, and the second (" The End of an Era ") – in spring 2015. The ComingSoon portal reports this.

Commenting on the decision, AMC President Charlie Collier said that such a scheme has justified itself more than once. As an example, he cited the hit show Breaking Bad, whose final eight episodes drew twice as many viewers as the first half of the season.

Series creator and executive producer Matthew Weiner added: “; We want to use this chance to create an even more thoughtful, complete story in two parts, which will remain in the memory of our viewers for a very long time. Our writers, actors – our whole team – welcome this decision as a unique opportunity to end our story in such an interesting way. ”

As a reminder, Mad Men tells the story of the life of the employees of the Sterling & Cooper advertising agency based in Manhattan. The action in the series takes place in the 60s of the last century. The main roles are played by John Hamm, John Slattery, Janewary Jones, Elisabeth Moss, Vincent Carthaiser, Christina Hendrix and other popular actors. At the upcoming Emmy ceremony, which will take place on September 22, 2013, the series will be nominated in the nomination Best Drama Series, and Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss will fight for the title of Best Drama Actor and Best Drama Actress respectively.
