Reg E. Cathy (House of Cards), Julia Crockett (Law & Order. Malicious Intent), Renn Schmidt (Boardwalk Empire) and Kip Pardue (Ray Donovan) will play alongside previously approved Patrick Fujit (Gone Girl) and Philip Glenister (Dear Friend) in the Cinemax drama pilot Outcast and executive producer Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead). This is reported by the publication Deadline.

In the center of the pilot's plot, based on the comic strip of the same name by Kirkman and artist Paul Azaketa, will be Kyle Barnes (Fugit), a young man suffering from an obsession since childhood. Now he, an adult, embarks on a spiritual journey to find answers, but finds out that life on Earth is in mortal danger.

Glenister has been cast as the Reverend Anderson, a West Virginia priest who believes himself to be a soldier in the Lord's holy war against the forces of Darkness on Earth. An incorrigible drunkard and gambler, he believes God is oblivious to the little things.

Katie will play Giles, Rome's police chief and Anderson's poker partner. Although he doesn't believe in possession as much as Anderson, he has seen enough in his lifetime to trust his buddy's opinion about demons.

Crockett will portray Sarah Barnes, Kyle's mother, who turned his childhood into a living hell ... At first, it seems that this is the result of mental illness. However, over time, Kyle realizes that the reason lies in something more.

Schmidt got the role of Kyle's half-sister, Megan Halter. Her profession is – child psychologist, and she applies her knowledge first of all to Kyle.

Megan's wife, Mark Halter, will play Pardu. A policeman in a small town, he has an explosive character and at times is unable to cope with him. Despite some religiosity, Mark is a real skeptic who would never believe in demonic possession.

Kirkman himself will write the script for the pilot. He will share executive producer functions with Chris Black and David Elpert. The pilot has been appointed by Adam Wingard ("Guest").
