Untitled, yet unreleased, next Star Trek movie has found a couple of new writers. According to The Hollywood Reporter, `` to the veteran '' Roberto Orci will join JD. Payne and Patrick McCain. Paramount and Skydance are planning to release the movie in 2016, when the 50th anniversary of the famous sci-fi franchise will be celebrated. Who will be in the director's chair is still unknown. Joe Cornish is considered the most likely candidate. JJ Abrams will retain the production functions.
