Jenji Cohen will shift perspective from the women's prison to the sports ring. The streaming service Netflix has commissioned the production of the ten-part comedy "GLOW" from executive producers of the hit series "Orange is the New Black" by Jenji Cohen and Tara Herrmann. This is reported by Deadline.

"GLOW" (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) is based on a syndicated television series that aired in the 80s. The comedy "GLOW", directed by Liz Flahive ("Homeland") and Karlie Mensch ("Orange Is the New Black"), is inspired by a true story that happened in the 1980s with the women's wrestling league. The series, which is set in Los Angeles, will feature "oversized hair and throws," and tell the fictional story of an out-of-job actress. The actress makes one last attempt at fulfilling her dream of fame and decides to star in a TV series about women-re-sterling.

Flahive and Mensch, who previously worked together on the Showtime series Sister Jackie, have been appointed showrunners and will executive produce with Cohen and Herrmann.

The original series was created by Matt Simber and was inspired by David B. McLain, has 104 episodes and aired for four seasons – from 1988 to 1990.
