Petition to close Rotten Tomatoes withdrew

The author of the petition to close the largest aggregator of professional reviews Rotten Tomatoes has stopped collecting signatures and withdrew his appeal. In an explanatory commentary, he said that he organized this action just for a joke.

"I actually created this petition to gather DC fans and express our outrage, just as a joke. I never imagined it would be taken so seriously. After some thought, I came to the conclusion that the action was pointless. And the only one its result was an outbreak of hatred on the Web, exacerbation of the confrontation between its supporters and opponents. Films are designed to entertain. And hatred and confrontation is something exactly the opposite of entertainment, "the author says. At the end of the action, more than 17,000 signatures were left under the petition.

Note that the reason for the closure of the Rotten Tomatoes website was given the "unfair" ratings that professional reviewers of leading publications put on movies based on DC comics, in particular Suicide Squad.

Recall that at the time of this writing, the rating of the project did not exceed 31 percent, which is one of the worst indicators among similar movies.
