The heirs of the famous Italian director Federico Fellini were allowed to make a remake of his movie "La Dolce Vita". This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The rights to shoot the new version were acquired by the AMBI Group studio, which is owned by Andrea Lervolino and Monica Bacardi. They will co-produce the movie with Daniel Di Lorenzo. "Daniel, Andrea and Monica offered a beautiful contemporary version of the movie. Their Italian background, deep respect and understanding of my uncle's work make them the ideal helmsmen for such a project," Fellini's niece Francesca said in a statement. According to her, the director's family had repeatedly received offers to shoot a remake of "La Dolce Vita", but each time they refused.

Recall that the original movie was released in 1960 and is now considered the pinnacle of Federico Fellini's work. The plot is built around a fashionable journalist and writer who revolves in secular circles, enjoying all their tinsel, but at the same time suffering from a misunderstanding of his purpose. The main role was played by Marcello Mastroianni. The movie also stars Anouk Eme, Anita Ekberg, Lex Barker and other actors.

La Dolce Vita was awarded the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and an Academy Award.
