Gorky Studio will be modernized for $ 60 million
One of the oldest USA movie studios, the Gorky Film Studio, will undergo a deep modernization and reconstruction, as a result of which it will receive the most modern production facilities. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter. According to the plan presented on December 4, 2015, which is designed for five years, the cost of the work is estimated at $ 60 million. It is assumed that the studio will not raise funds from the state treasury, but will receive the entire necessary amount by selling some non-core assets. The purpose of the reconstruction will be to attract foreign moviemakers, who will be able to use the studio's facilities to create the most modern movie projects. The studio's management expects that in this way its income will increase at least three times. Recall that the studio was founded in 1915 by the merchant Mikhail Trofimov, and a year later regular movie production began. The company acquired its current name in 1948. Many well-known movies have been released under the studio's brand, including the highest-grossing Soviet movies such as Officers, Pirates of the XX century, Quiet Don, TV movies Seventeen Moments of Spring, Guest from the Future and many others.
