Natalie Dormer to star in the mystical drama Picnic at the Hanging Rock
Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer will star in the upcoming adaptation of Australian writer Joan Lindsay's classic novel Picnic at the Hanging Rock. According to Deadline, the cast of the six-part drama, which will be broadcast by Australian channel Foxtel, is almost complete. The novel, published in 1967, tells the story of the mysterious disappearance of three female college students and their teacher, who departed groups on a picnic at the Hanging Rock on Valentine's Day in 1900. To this day, it remains a mystery whether the book is based on a real story, as hinted at by Lindsay, or is it just the author's fantasy. The novel begins with the words: "Is" The Hanging Rock Picnic "fact or fiction, my readers have to decide for themselves. But since this fateful event happened in 1900, and all the characters that appear in this book are long dead, this hardly seems important. '' It's also worth noting that the book has an open ending, although the publisher claimed that the draft had a final chapter that explained everything.
