WGN America ordered the production of two drama series pilots – the screen version of the DC comic "Scalped", curated by Jeff Jones, and "Roadside Picnic", based on the story of Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

"Scalped" is described as a modern crime story taking place on a Native American reservation. Dashill Bad Horse returns to the community led by ambitious chief Lincoln the Red Raven after several years of absence.

Doug Jung ("Banshee") will write a script based on a comic book series created by Jason Aaron and R.M. Gueroy. Jang and Jones will share the responsibilities of executive producers of the project, which will be produced by Warner Horizon Television. Insiders argue that WGN America intends to engage Indigenous actors in the drama.

Roadside Picnic sets in the near future on Earth after aliens have visited and then left, leaving behind there are many secrets that people are trying to solve. The events are shown through the eyes of Red, a veteran stalker, the meaning of his life boiled down to bringing from the so-called "zones" - anomalous formations in which the laws of physics familiar to people are violated – artifacts, items of extraterrestrial origin.

Jack Paglen (Alien: Covenant) will write the script and act as executive producer along with Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones), which will be movieed by the pilot. Roadside Picnic was first published in 1972 and then published in more than 20 countries. Based on the book, Stalker was movieed in 1979.

If, after passing the pilot stage, two potential projects are given the green light, they will join the list of original WGN America series, which includes Salem. Outcasts and Underground.
