The creator of the "VIP" series Armando Iannucci will shoot a satirical movie based on the popular graphic novel "Death of Stalin" by Fabien Nuri. This is reported by the Variety edition.

The work takes place in March 1953, a few days before the death of the Soviet leader, and some time after his death, which shocked the country. The movieing dates and a possible rental schedule for the future movie have not been specified at the time of this writing.

The production team will include Nicolas Duval-Adassovsky, Lauren Zeytoun and Jan Zenou, who previously oversaw the creation of the French tragicomedy "1 + 1". This will be the first English-language project by their studio Quad Films.

Recall that earlier Iannucci refused to further work on the series "VIP", which was extended by HBO for a fifth season. He also has the political comedy "In the Loop", as well as various satirical shows and TV programs.

The graphic novel "The Death of Stalin" was published by the Dargaud publishing house in two parts, entitled "Agony" and "Funeral", in 2010 and 2012. Nuri's texts were accompanied by illustrations by Thierry Robin. This comic has never been movieed before.
