British channel BBC Three has announced the upcoming spin-off of the cult sci-fi series Doctor Who, Class, which will target a young audience. The curator of the TV project is the author of youth bestsellers Patrick Ness. The Hollywood Reporter reports this with reference to BBC Three.

The series will take place in modern London, into which numerous threats seep through space and time. In the face of the deepening darkness, the city feels its defenselessness. The announcement says that in "Class" Doctor Who and Coal Hill School will appear in front of fans from a completely new, previously unknown, side.

Ness, on whose account the trilogy "Chaos" and "The Voice monster ", will take on the role of executive producer of the TV project, which he will share with "veterans" of "Doctor Who" Stephen Moffat and Brian Minchin. The series, which will debut in 2016, will begin movieing in Wells next spring. The series will consist of eight 45-minute episodes, and will be Ness's first television project.
